Your business's details in Findkeep

Draft. This page has been written by us and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It is a real working channel all the same — write to the address below and a person will read it.

If somebody rang you about your website and mentioned Findkeep, or you have been told your business's details are in a tool called Findkeep, this page is for you. You do not need an account, you do not need to sign in, and it costs nothing.

What Findkeep is, and who called you

Findkeep is software made by Momentum Minds LLC. Businesses — usually web designers and small agencies — use it to build a list of local firms to contact and to keep track of the calls they make. Your details are in the list because one of those businesses searched Google Maps through our tool and your listing came back.

We are not the people who called you. We do not make calls, send SMS or send email to businesses in anyone's list; the product contains no facility for it. The person who contacted you is one of our customers, using their own phone.

What is held about you

A record in Findkeep normally holds only what your Google Maps listing shows the world: your trading name, your business phone number, your street address and town, what kind of business it is, a link to your Maps listing, and whether you appear to have a website, only a social-media page, or nothing. Our customer may have added their own notes — for example that they called on a certain day, or when to try again.

Everything in the record came from the Google Places API. We do not buy data, look you up anywhere else, or add anything to it.

Who is responsible for it — and why that changes what we can do

Under the GDPR the business that decided to put you on its list is the controller of that record: it chose to collect it, it decides what to do with it, and the obligations to you are principally theirs. We are its processor — we hold the data on their behalf, in their private workspace, and we act on their instructions. We also hold some information as a controller in our own right, and where we do, we act on your request ourselves.

That distinction is not us avoiding responsibility. It is why the answer to "can you just delete me" is usually "we will make that happen" rather than "done, one moment".

What we will do

What we cannot do

What you can ask for

"Stop calling me" is the most common request we get, and it is the easiest one to act on. You do not have to give a reason, cite an article, or be polite about it.

How to ask

Either fill in the form below, or email privacy@momentumminds.net. Both arrive in the same mailbox and are treated the same way. Whichever you use, tell us:

Your request

That is all we need, and it is deliberately the least we can ask for. We will not ask you for proof of identity unless we genuinely cannot tell which record you mean, and if we do have to ask, we will explain why. We will not use anything you send for any other purpose, we will not add you to any list, and we will not pass your email address to the customer unless you want to hear from them directly and say so.

We reply within one month. If the request is complicated we may need longer, and if so we will tell you inside that first month, which is what Art. 12(3) requires of us.

If you are not happy with the answer

You can complain to a data protection supervisory authority. In Denmark that is Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.dk; elsewhere in the EU or EEA it is the authority for your own country. You can do that at any point, including instead of writing to us.

Our full Privacy Policy explains where lead data comes from, the legal basis we rely on for holding it, and the reasoning behind that basis, including the arguments against it.
